Turtle Power - Turtlemeter Bath Toy*

Evening Peaches...

Bathing a baby - a tricky concept! As soon as they get into the water they transform into a slippery eel; splashing and wriggling out of your grasp. It's a two man job to begin with, but as they get bigger and stronger it does get easier! One thing I was worried about was the temperature of the bath water so when I was sent the 'Turtlemeter - The Baby Bath Floating Turtle Toy'* I couldn't wait to give it a go.

The strong, brightly coloured, plastic turtle is perfect for children and young babies alike and has a screen on its back which not only shows the temperature of the water, but also changes colour depending on its heat so you can see at a glance if the waters right for your little one.

Blue - too cold
Green - just right
Red - too hot

For the last 13 months I've been testing the water using the good old elbow trick and was sure the water wasn't too hot. So you can imagine my horror when I popped the turtle into the bath to see it flash BLUE!!! My poor little lamb had practically been tubbing in an ice cold plunge pool!! I was always bothered it was too warm I'd never dreamed that the water would be too cold! Another good feature of the turtle is that the temperature constantly updates itself so you can see when the water is getting too cold for your baby and is time to get them out.

My daughter loves playing in the bath so this is a great addition to her bedtime routine. The Turtlemeter is only £9.99 from Amazon which I think is a reasonable price for something that you'll use almost everyday for quite a few years.

I honestly never thought this would be a product that I would need but since using it I'm glad I have it! I've let my friends with babies use this since I got it and it turns out we've all been giving out baltic baths!

Have you found any other baby essentials you never thought you'd need?

Best Of Beauty - Pamper Products

Evening Peaches....

We are into Week 4 of Sam from All The Buzz challenge and it's the turn of the Best of Beauty - Pamper Products.

Once a week (sometimes more if it's that kind of week) I treat myself to a pamper night. It involves a hot bubble bath, Netflix, chocolate and plenty of pampering goodies! During the week I need to adopt a swift and speedy beauty regime but when it comes to the weekend I can really indulge and take my time with my favourite products.

I have long been a fan of a hot cloth cleanser and love the deep clean it gives your skin. I've been using Naturally Radiant - Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser from Superdrug for a while now and this is my second tube of it, which I got on offer for £2.98 instead of the usual £5.99. It's really simple to use: just apply in a circular motion to wet skin and then using the muslin cloth (which should be damp with hot water - not boiling, as I learnt the hard way!) to polish off the cream. The cloth acts as an exfoliator buffing off dry skin to reveal a gorgeous glow! Then, just splash on some cool water and pat dry. I usually slap on a warming face mask at this point, close my eyes and drift off....

This cleanser has a lovely thick creamy texture and the plant extracts (kiwi fruit and mulberry) definitely pamper my pores in a very gentle yet effective way. If I was a lady of leisure I would probably use this more frequently, but for now I'll keep it as a part of my Friday night 'me time' routine!

Have you tried any of the other products in Superdrugs Naturally Radiant range? I'd love to know what you thought of them.

Best Of Beauty - Make Up Musthaves

Hey  Peaches....

It's Week 3 of All The Buzz Best of Beauty Challenge and the topic of discussion is Make Up Musthaves.

Since the tender age of 9 (when I experimented with my Mums collection - much to her horror) I have loved everything that make up has to offer. The chance to transform your look or simply boost confidence with everyday tricks, make up is a wondrous creation that I can't imagine life without! Choosing my all time favourite product was quite a task but I finally decided on this 'lovely' which I wear for a natural everyday look.

Initially, I was never really wowed with BB creams when they came on the shelves a few years ago. I like a medium coverage and found that they didn't do enough for me. However, this All-In-One BB Cream by The Body Shop, which comes out of the tube white and adapts to the colour of your skin upon application, gives me a really great coverage and lasts for at least 8 hours! It blends in beautifully and although has a mid coverage it still remains very light and natural looking - ideal for daytime. It does just the right amount of moisturising so doesn't leave you with the dreaded shiny face.

The Body Shop cover all bases by doing this BB cream in three shades: 01 for lighter skin tones, 02 for medium skin tones and 03 for darker skin tones. I got mine in 02 and its suit me down to the ground!

I can't wait to read what other musthaves the rest of the bloggers involved in this challenge have got lined up and ready for me to HAVE to buy!

Best Of Beauty - Hair Heroes

Bonjour Peaches...

This weeks Best Of Beauty Challenge set up by All The Buzz is favourite haircare products and accessories. It took me all of 3 seconds to decide what my Haircare Hero was .....

Words cannot express my love for this hair beaut - but I'll try my best!

This Milkshake Conditioning Whipped Cream is a no rinse conditioner and has been a fixture to my hair care regime for a while now. After shampooing, rinsing and towel drying my locks, I comb through a small amount of this light weight mousse and let the smell take over my senses. It has a gorgeous, sweet, creamy scent which lingers around long after you dry and style your hair. However, you can't label something Hair Hero just based on its smell, no matter how amazing it is. So it's a good job this Whipped Cream does work wonders. It uses proteins found in milk (hence the name) which protect and restructure the hair shaft making your mane soft, shiny and manageable. Normally when I use 'leave in' products they make my hair feel weighed down and greasy but this one does anything but. My hair has gone from strength to strength since I started treating it with this and because its not splitting and it is in better condition it's grown loads - well maybe not loads, but definitely a couple of inches!

What has your hair been whipped up into a frenzy from?

Best Of Beauty - Skin Care Saviours

Good Evening Peaches....

When I saw the Best Of Beauty Challenge set up by Samantha at All The Buzz I thought it would be a good way to see what everyone else loves, as well as a way for me to share my faves!

This weeks topic is Skin Care Saviours - what a perfect way to kick off!

Skin. It's all over your body so to me it's one of the most important things that you need to look after! From downing a couple of pints of water every day to indulging in a face mask once a week, skincare is something I take really seriously! As some of you may already know I have quite dry skin and have the occasional patch of eczema so over the last few years have tried and tested many a product.

This Micellar Solution from L'Oreal is a must have to remove final traces of my make up and freshen up first thing in the morning. It's so gentle on my sensitive skin and always leaves my face really clean and clear without any tightness or redness. I know that some people use just this alone to take off their make up but for me it just doesn't get every scrap off so I give my face a proper cleanse with a creamy wash beforehand. I think this is probably more to do with the amount of make up I have on than any fault of the product! My skin has really improved since using this as a final part of my everyday skincare routine and my dryness is a distant memory!

I picked this up originally from Boots but it's become so popular you can get it just about anywhere now. I bought my last bottle of it from Tesco on a 2 for £5 offer which is a brilliant price for my Skin Care Saviour!

I look forward to reading everyone elses Best Of Beauty Challenge posts and products over the next few weeks and hope that I find some little gems along the way!

Get It Sorted!

Evening Peaches...

I love make up and beauty products. I love them so much that they have literally taken over my bedroom. This not so secret love affair is the bane of my boyfriend Matt's life. Last week, after dodging the pots and tubs I'd left on the floor, he finally reached the end of his tether and in a fit of rage threw (gasp) my babies onto the worktop. You can imagine the tears and tantrums that followed when I realised that my HD brow kit and eyeshadow palette had been smashed to smithereens.

Enough was enough, I needed to find a better way to store my treasured possessions and after seeing how Beth from Beauty In Beta had organised her make up into cute little boxes I decided the time had come! Off I skipped to Ikea to pick up some containers to sort my make up into when I stumbled across this little beauty! With 7 compartments it was perfect to house all my skin and make up products and only cost £8! In an ideal world where money was no object I'd love to have the beautiful, clear, sectioned drawers that the Kardashians have but I'm living on a tighter budget than Kim so this Ikea 'Skubb' box is great!

Buy here

Once I'd got home the fun really began, how best to organise all my lip, face and eyes goodies?! The great thing about having this sort out meant that I could really see what I had and what I don't need to buy....

This morning the time it took for me to get my slap on was almost halved because I wasn't scurrying around on the floor looking for my mascara or powder. Another bonus with this box of tricks is how handy it is to carry around. If the moment ever occurs when I need to make a quick getaway I can grab Lyla in one hand and this in the other and be off in a flash!

Hope this might inspire some of you out there to get your make up collection sorted!

She Scrubs Up Well!

Morning Peaches...

I love a good scrub, it feels so satisfying to polish away dry, dead skin cells to reveal a healthy, glowing face. I've tried and tested many a facial exfoliator in my time and I prefer the sugar or salt scrubs that are out there - very gritty and powerful!

For those of you who know about my love of jars, you wont be surprised to learn that I often make homemade beauty/food gifts, shove them in a sparkly clean jar and present them to my nearest and dearest! They are always met with smiling faces and a compliments aplenty. Never one to hand out an untested potion, I used and fell in love with this scrub that I made for a friend a couple of years ago. It's really simple and quick to make and the results are amazing!

All you need :

* 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
* 2 tablespoons of honey
* 100g of sugar
* Bowl
* Spoon
* Jar

Step 1 - Put all the ingredients into the bowl and stir them up.

Easy so far!

Step 2 - Spoon it into your jar and attach an attractive label and ribbon to it.

Slightly more tricky!

Step 3 - Give it to your friend or use it yourself!

* This scrub will last for about 2 - 3 months as long as you keep the lid tightly closed.*

I recommend that you apply this skin treat to a make up free and clean face. Use a teaspoon amount and massage in circular motions all over your skin and neck. Do this for about 60 seconds - if you spend too long on it you might not have any skin left! Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. I apply my moisturiser now because I have quite dry skin, but if you feel as though the olive oil in this scrub has moisturised you enough then your done - now go to bed!

Hope that you liked this DIY beauty idea and will maybe give it a go!
